My Panasonic FZ50 Lumix has a Leica lens w/ 12x optical zoom, equivalent to a 35mm-420mm zoom on a 35mm camera. The shot I posted was cropped from what I remember as being 8x, or about a 280mm lens on a 35mm camera.
Roger Hogan raved about the 8 megapixel FZ30 that he had a few years ago, so I waited for the 10 megapixel FZ50 to come out. It doesn't have interchangeable lenses like a Canon or Nikon, but does have image stabalization - which is essential for me these days. Of course, for those really long shots I was using a fairly sturdy tripod left over from my younger days when I lugged around a Mamiya RB67.
Scott Turner told me he has gone back to film, as digital just doesn't provide the subtle tones he is looking for. But he's a pro and produces graphics for a living; I'm just recording memory stimulators and sharing a few with friends.
