Gentlemen,
A link from the 0n30 Conspiracy Yahoo Group brought me to your forum and the excellent pics of the Vaser Valley logging railway in Maramures, Romania, posted back in June.
Excessive rain caused severe flooding in Northern Romania in August 2008 and several sections of the Vaser Valley line were destroyed, including several concrete bridges. Current news (early September) is that the line IS being repaired. Trains are running on the first 8 kms to Valea Scradei, and it is hoped to have the line back open to Novat (26 kms) by winter. For details of the flood damage and amazing pics of a steam-hauled train caught in the floods, see (site in German only):

I am a British narrow gauge enthusiast, living and working in Romania for the past 14 years. I run a small travel company called Roving Romania (www.roving-romania.co.uk). I offer trips to, and on, the Vaser Valley line as well as to other closed Romanian logging narrow gauge, alongside my nature, wildlife and rural culture ecotourism tours of this beautiful country. I hope the plug for my services doesn't offend on this forum!
I have various photos of Romanian narrow gauge at the 0n30 Conspiracy site (photo file under my name). Or e-mail me offline for more info:
