Coming from Shaniko, you must stop at the Dewitt Depot museum at Prairie City, (former SVRy Depot) Babs has an excellent collection of SVRy stuff, and is a really great lady to talk with.
You should call Ann at Scoop N Steamer at 894-2236 www.scoop-n-steamer.com she has four nice cabins to choose from and if very hospitable, as well as a great cook (her restaurant is next door).
There will be someone at the yard on Friday, and you will be able to brouse to your hearts content. Look for the Oil Czar (Jerry Huck). I will be enjoying the sights and sounds of Chama and CATS that time of July.
Check out the dredge at Sumpter as well, and there is a good museum in Baker City, the Oregon Trail Regional Museum, the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is just 5 miles from Baker city, and Haines, about 10 miles also has an excellent museum, and the Haines UP depot has been moved to that location.
