Good year to ride the C&TS and/or D&S

High gas prices are obviously creating a lot of uncertainty about how well ridership will do on the C&TS and D&S this year. D&S has already curtailed its peak schedule from four to three trains due to "soft demand". And I heard that C&TS ridership is down by something like 50 passengers per train compared to this time last year. Way too early to draw any conclusions, but the initial trend is not good news.

My take on all this is simply that this might be a heck of good year to get off my arse and go ride the railroads.

And the various photo charters will probably help bring in a bit of extra revenue, so maybe this is a good year to fork out the big bucks for one of those. Whether it's a TUT trip, Chama Steam, or Lerro Productions, this might be a good year to just do it!
