The small grey metal shed was typical of the sheds the Western Union
had at many places where they kept a narrow gauge motor car for the lineman to use to get out to troubles on the line. Perhaps the Western Union had it removed or sold it near the end of operations.

The Western Union left the D&RGW a narrow gauge motor car at Alamosa
when they sold the lines to the RR and quit maintaining them. The section lineman kept the car in good shape, and it was in one of those little gray tin sheds near the west end of the Alamosa yards.

When I worked for the D&RGW Comm. Department I used it once to run a final telegraph line inspection from Alamosa to Chama and return in the summer of '67 prior to abandonment.

Those little W.U. cars were Fairmont AA twin cylinder jobs and would go like hell.
