Neat picture of Kokomo, Colorado on today's list...
In the 1960's I was living in Colorado, and one day I drove
through Kokomo. Went to the little U.S. Post office there which
was still open, and dropped off a postcard to collect
the Hand Stamped P.O. cancellation from that little 4th Class Post Office.
There was an old lady there in the P.O. still keeping it open every day.
Kokomo was a neat place, and still somewhat intact at that time, But was near dark that day, and I had to get on home, so I didn't stick around very long...
I now regret that I didn't spend more time looking over the place
as I'm sure those who still lived around there at the time would have had a lot of interesting stuff to say about the history of the place.
I never got back to do that, and eventually the large mine nearby buried the place under the tailings ponds. It is all gone now.
I still have that postmark somewhere in my stuff....
