I wasn't even thinking about the dates when I mentioned the nearest possible connection. You guys are right it would have been further to any other lines at that time.

It seems like the whole purpose of the line was to bring ore from the old reliable mine to a mill that was further down the canyon. A lot of effort for the short time that it lasted and they still had to transport the processed stuff out by wagon.
