Air in the boiler

At SVRy we have to position the Mikado before Hostling. We have used an air compressor to pump up the boiler to ~120#, then run the lokie air compressor for brakes and move #19 a short distance. We remove the external compressor, burp the boiler, then leave the whistle tied down (open) and leave it open for 3 to 5 minutes after the water begins to boil.
Question is, if we burp with the whistle 3 to 5 minutes to get the air out, is there any problem with this method?
