I think I posted something on the Army narrow gauge 2-8-2 locomotives a few months ago.
Most of the Army narrow gauge Mikes were built to 42" gauge or meter gauge. Over 700 of these engines were built. Something like 300-400 meter gauge versions of these engines went to Indian State Railways; some of these later went to other places in SE Asia. Other engines went to Queesland (Australia) Government Rys (42" gague) and it is reported that one of these is preserved. Manila Railroad got 45 of the 42"-gauge engines to help rebuild. Other engines saw service at verious locations in Africa both during the north African campaign and to provide engines to help various central and south African countries.
Some engines that never got overseas were sold after the war to various Central American banana lines.
Builders were Baldwin, Alco, Davenport, Porter, and Vuclan. The design was developed by Alco.
