#1185 (AT&SF 1158 Class) was built as a compound 2-6-6-2 by Baldwin in 1910. This class all had rigid boilers. However, Chatzi, some of the Santa Fe's early articulateds did have jointed boilers, an example being #1157 which was built from 2-6-2 #1051 as the high pressure unit and #1125 as the low. It was dismantled in 1924, with #1051 restored to its original status and #1125 was scrapped.
The Santa Fe had several classes of articulateds built by combining two smaller locomotives, and also went the other way when the 3000 class 2-10-10-2s were split up into the 3010 and 3020 class 2-10-2s between 1915 and 1918.
