Just to be clear here for the dialup folks, this isn't a bandwidth issue or any other kind of dialup vs T1/DSL/Cable thing. It's very clearly a DNS issue (for the non-techies out there, DNS is basically what turns a domain name like "ngdiscussion.net" into the physical internet address your browser actually goes to), and like Don, I've found that moving my nameserver to OpenDNS has helped - not alleviated the problem, but helped. And I've found that OpenDNS has the added benefit of typically being just a tad faster than my ISPs nameservers. Unfortunately, while moving to an open, non-your-ISP-based nameserver isn't rocket science, it is probably more than most average users want to deal with.
As I think I've mentioned before, the problem is specific to John's domains - johnacraft.com and steamspecials.com always go dark for me whenever ngdiscussion.net goes dark. Sure seems like some fubar "A" records are periodically getting propagated for some reason, so it's easy to be suspicious of something at his server being out of whack, but there are other ways that bad records can get propagated, including some malicious ones.
Finally, as I've said every time this comes up - please note that I'm NOT complaining, just providing some additional information. I appreciate the resource and everything that Don and John provide for us here.
