Florence and Cripple Creek #11 and #12 were delivered from Baldwin in 1897 with almost smooth domes for reasons now known only to people long gone. Numerous L.C. McClure pictures of #12 in service on the F&CC show this clearly. #12 went on to become Montana Southern #2 and was scrapped with the same smooth domes. #11 became #426 and then #316 on the Rio Grande and carried the smooth domes to the end.
All of the rest of the F&CC 2-8-0's had standard Baldwin post 1882 dome covers, like those also on #268.
