Well as an "outsider" Californian with no personal connection or real familiarity with half of this big-Mike and "Waddling Swan" (or whatever you call 'them contraptions
) business y'all talk about, I must say I found the site quite impressive. Great design. The portrait of the "rail" in the slide show, and the emphasis on the crew, really adds a touch of class and pays homage to the guys doing their job and keeping the traditions out there alive. Having a crew profile page like that has always been an idea for when it's time to build the Pacific Coast site.
At least where I come from and even with some railroading background, the thought of a nearly 50-mile narrow-gauge -- hundreds of miles from civilization, and still operating with steam every year -- is still quite astounding, so I suppose it's kind of hard for me to understand the constant bantering over petty things like un-railfan friendly websites, "non-historically accurate" lettering and such when the whole thing really should have been scrapped out 40 years ago. Just my $2.00 (with inflation, what's $0.02 anymore?), but what do I know?
Anyways, keep up the good work!
