Thanks, Earl. I only repeated the story I heard from a former C&TS employee who lives here in Tucson. I never did really believe it (hence my "sea-story" introduction) but I had no other information on this.
And thanks also for clearing up the part about replacing the boiler. I'm not that familiar with their design, so that was a guess on my part. Oh, well... I've been wrong before and I'm fairly certain I'll be wrong again!
