Toy? Well Wikipedia says, "A toy is an object used in play." And "Play, is an activity in which we learn our relationship to the world around us." As an active model railroader for 55 years, I have a good handle on what "play" means to me, been 'playin with trains' since I can remember. But are they toys? Yeah, I think so, in the application of the definition, imagination being excersized to provide the bridge between the Toy and the real world. We, as adults, where I live anyhow, are admired by our fellows for the amount of 'toys' we have at our disposal to mow the lawn, clean and work on the cars, suck-up our leaves and blow the snow, and oh yeah, pass whatever time is lefover after those chores, on a 40' by 50' toy train set in the basement. Me? I believe all things I can handle are toys, except the wife that is, she is the exception to the rule. Shop class failed to prepare me for that reality.
