...maybe. Pacific Coast Vulcan #2 is currently at a shop in Southern California receiving some boiler work. Meanwhile, back at the ranch (quite literally), the crew has been throwing around some ideas for a cosmetic makeover when it returns. Here is one possibility which we feel would respectfully represent 1890-1920s era narrow gauge while still being something other than the quotidian black steam engine:
Unfortunately, we are not sure how this will go over with the owner, who is more a fan of the garish "circus" look than one suitable to a locomotive of this vintage. We are hoping persistence and some photoshop work will help persuade him that this is the way to go. Perhaps you can help in convincing him, too. If you would be so kind as to comment on the concept on our blog --
http://pcrailroad.blogspot.com -- and say how nice it looks and what an incredible improvement this would be over the current scheme, maybe it might just give him enough faith to green flag it. (Just pretty please don't say we sent you!)
For those who haven't seen it, below is what the poor thing looks like now, and if not the above may otherwise be painted blue! (Even with his new tinted John Deere safety glasses, it's only a matter of time before poor Phil goes blind!)
Thanks for your help.
