I was under the impression they used the same fuel. Pueblo Railway Museum buys off-road diesel for about 50 cents per gallon cheaper than the truckers pay because of less tax. This is for our GP7s.
The Colorado Railroad Museums pays about $1,25 for used motor oil. Shay #14 gives us all the steam we need and then some burning that. Granted we have a unique operation there.
