Amazingly, the WP&Y actually had a new rail bus constructed to the D&S pattern and built by the same builder. When I rode it, in September of 1998, it seemed to suffer from many of the same problems the D&S unit did. The motorman reported that the brakes were not very good, so they were only using it on the level between Fraser and Bennett. They didn't dare use it on the hill! Also, if you put it in reverse while still rolling forward (or vice versa) or opened the throttle too quickly, it blew the hydraulic hoses!
They must have finally got it sorted out though, as the WP&Y has just purchased a 2nd one. Is this one new, or did they finally get the old D&S one this time? Anyone know?
