I have noticed in my studies that particularly the shop in Salida would outfit engines with olive green boiler jackets when that loco was pulling an excursion. I have seen pictures of the 489,494,497 and 499 sporting this kind of boiler jacket. The pictures I saw were during the last years of operation on the Marshall Pass line when several excurions were run. So it may not be a surprise to see this variation-especially out of Salida. One side note I have seen photo's of more K-37's with the green boiler jacket than the K-36's.
