And a Happy New Year to both camps - the mean-Greenies & The-One-True Historically-Corrects.
Russ, I'll admit that I haven't read every last word in the multitude of Green threads, but I do recall a proposal/preference/wish-for from you (either in one of the threads or via PM) in which you proposed two greenies, which'd serve as the regular passenger power from both ends, with the beautiful-blacks relegated to helper/backup/photo freight service. Standard, norm, regular, most common - seems like any of those words'd apply.
Obviously, you've throttled back from that position, but I still struggle seeing the justification (or even desirability) for even one full-time green-jacketed K36 on an historic property. That's fully a third of the currently operating locomotives for something which probably never was.
I have no trouble seeing value in special occasion paint or lettering, including green boilers and multi-hued heralds, especially if used to promote the RR through special runs and so-forth in order to help generate incremental business and interest. In fact, that's exactly the sort of thing that I hope the RR can eventually do regularly. But on an every-day basis? Nah.
Hey, Christmas is over, so I can be a bit of a Grinch, can't I?
