No, Jerry -
I would like to see HISTORIC paint schemes recreated, as accurately as possible. If none of the K-36's EVER had dark green boiler jackets, then none should today. If no K-36's EVER had the red, white and blue "Scenic Lines" logos, then none should today.* If no P-51's fought in WWII or Korea painted purple with yellow polka dots, then none
in war museums should today. (If a private owner is using one for air races, I suppose he or she can do whatever ... )
I'm among those who are not exactly thrilled with the bright red color currently in use on the coaches, but as they are not anywhere near replicas of the D&RGW originals this doesn't seem terribly important.
And anyway, I was just expressing, IMHO, what I would like to see, on the assumption that it WOULD BE historically accurate, based on some previous posts.

* There is considerable evidence, though little photographic proof, that at least a few of the K-36's based in Salida had dark-green jackets. The use of the tri-color logos during WWII is well-documented. There IS photographic evidence that #483 was painted maroon with gold trim during her first few months of service on the C&TS. My suggestion that she be painted this way in 2010 for a recreation of the first C&TS train into Chama for a 40th Anniversary Celebration is not to be taken TOO seriously ...
