That is indeed good news!

It's great that the Friends' membership is growing so fast, and the grant for #463 should ensure she is back on the roster soon! I know she is a lot harder to fire than the K-36's (due to her much smaller firebox), but it is a real treat to see her charging up the pass!

BTW, it's my impression that Mr. Sam Furukawa is sponsoring the restoration of #463. (See [ngdiscussion.net] et seq.) With this new grant available, will some of his donation be diverted to another rebuild, such as our beloved #483?

p.s. I've just finished scanning sixty (60! Count 'em!! 60!!!) slides from the first five years of the C&TS - including several of the volunteers rebuilding the railroad - that Ernie Robart has lent us so we can select a few for Volume 2 of the "Help Save #483" screen saver. Several of them are real gems, and will replace some of mine that were in the set partly as filler.
