Well actually... The tender frame for #346 is being replaced “in kind”, douglas fir for the longitudinals, and oak for the end beams morticed and tenoned together, just like the old frame. Here, Joe Neuman prepares the frame for assembly.
Some of the wooden end beams on our tenders have been replaced with steel. Otherwise, the “fleet” runs with its original tender frames, steel with wooden decks.
