Great review Rick. Yes this is one ride you just must take if you love mountains and steam! Your experience was much the same as mine the week before, except there was no craft fair. That probably saved me a few dollars! LOL! The train was fantastic (love riding that RPO), the people were even better, the scenery was unbeatable and the La Veta Inn is THE place to eat in La Veta. We had lunch there for two days of riding and one of chasing. Great food and wonderful people!
I just can't say enough about the San Luis and Rio Grande's La Veta Pass experience. Just fantastic!
You're right about Charlie. Smooth as glass on the air and great on the whistle. He's a Shawcroft all right.
