Good pix, Roger. Thanks for your efforts in documenting the wildlife in the Chama area.
On that topic, from time to time I have heard rumors of one or more pairs of bald eagles being sighted in the Cumbres Pass area. Based on your wanderings can you either confirm or deny this rumor?
Similarly, a few years ago I was traveling on I25 just south of Raton, NM. I was startled when a bald eagle crossed the road immediately in front of me at a very low altitude. It was close enough that I could clearly see the white head.
When I got back to Santa Fe I called the NM Game and Fish and they were all a'twitter over the sighting. They had heard rumors, but mine was the first solid sighting. The guy I was talking to speculated that perhaps one or more pairs were wintering in the vicinity of Maxwell Lake which is close to there. He said that up to that time Game and Fish hadn't taken a real close look at that area.
