Well, now - I don't recall using the word "toy"...that word brings some unintended images to mind and I don't think of any of these as toys. Nor was I intending to denigrate anyone's operation at any level.
The comment - tongue-in-cheek - was more directed at comparing the smaller 2' gauge (and even smaller) to some of the larger live steam models. These are all more or less precision machines at any scale, but some of these larger "models" look capable of doing serious revenue work...
But it is fun to stir the pot up every once in a while...
On the other hand - just to stir a little more - is the Eureka now a 1:1 "model" built with some prototype parts? - or is it the "real" thing after having had extensive maintenance? (I believe it was the Eureka - and another engine or two - I used to see sitting outside Las Vegas as a primer-colored derelict back in the 70s. Sure looks different now...)
Me? I like to watch live steam at any scale...the Eureka and Skookum are two of my favorites.
