Early RGS conductors report

November 08, 2007 08:50AM
Recently accuired a conducots report for the RGS from 1904! Alot of interesting information. Most of it is hand written, so my disipher is real basic, not knowing much of the RGS's history. Armed with the Sundance tomes, I'll try to recreate train movements, one at a time, and as I come across chicken scratch that is meaningless to me, maybe some of the more educated on this baord could help figure out the puzzle. Items in qoutes are what is written down.

Train No. _____ ( "ex" or maybe "crs")
Left "Leopard Creek" at "1103" m, "9-30" 1904, arrived "Telluride" at "a"m "9-30" 1904.

Engine no. "2" from "Leopard creek" to "Telluride"
Engine no. "10" from "Leopard creek" to "Keystone"

The way I read it the train looked like this:

Double header, started at Leopard crk, with 8 "D&RG" boxcars.
#'s 3248, 3510, 3441, 3396, 4504, 3202, 3170, 3172), "RGS" car #598 ( I can not make out the mark for kind of car, but possibly a flatcar? ), followed by another "D&RG" boxcar # 3161, and followed by four "c" cars ( possibly "coal cars" or "gondolas"- #'s 9361, 1495, 9452, 9236), and taking up the rear, RGS caboose #404.
