If you are talking about the last photo David posted, it is indeed a steep grade, this is the temporary track "shoofly" built down into a small canyon to retrieve the engine. I imagine it is being winched up. If you are looking at the photo in Peru, I have no details on it.
One other bit of trivia on the engine, SVRy had a flanger installed on it right after it was purchased, under AFE #2 10/15/16 purchase and install "Ray flanger with auto lifting". Also I had the date wrong on the installation of the Ruston stack. In looking at what I think is a more reliable source, it was 6/27/27 rather than 1930 which was correct for the fire door.
