1203 made another test run today. The train had 8 loads (inluding 6 xEBT hoppers of ballast) and 4 empties, 400+ tons. 1203 ran in full throttle from McEwen all the way to Sumpter, and brake applications had to be made to keep from exceeding maximum track speed. It was also able to restart the train on the heavy grade just short of the Sumpter depot with little difficulty. The electrical system and diesel engine are now working together at or near rated horsepower.
The focus can now turn to the various odds and ends needed to complete assembly and finishing work, along with a few more test runs to fine tune everything.
