Bradshaw proved his worth!

October 31, 2007 07:05AM
Not only did he buy the railroad and keep it going, he expanded service, and doubled the number of passenger cars to boot.

When the big fire happened that burned the roundhouse, (1989?), he dug out his checkbook and rebuilt it, as well as rebuilding all of the fire damaged engines. Remember that when the fire occured, that not only was the next summer season in doubt, many wondered if he would take the insurance money and walk away. I recall reading that he went as far as South Africa to buy equipment for the machine shop to expand the capibilities of the shop as well.

He wasn't perfect, but as the editorial states, he was the right man, who luckly for us railfans, stepped up to the plate and put his money on the table.
