Hello all. A lot of exciting things have been going on at the D&RG RY HF. The Foundation received the loan of two vintage stainless steel Budd cars. One a 1939 Budd Round End Private / Observation Car, which will be named the "Wagon Wheel Gap". The second a 1951 Budd Railway Post Office Car which will be converted to a Concession Car. Both cars are scheduled to arrive in South fork in the next week or two. The cars will be updated to HEP, painted with a Rio Grande gold stripe and lettered. You can see pictures of the cars, additional acquired M.O.W. equipment and railroad line on the Foundations un-official web site at -
www.wagon-wheel-gap-route.freehomepage.com.
We hope to have the line open to the Creede depot this fall for our M.O.W. equipment. Stay tuned to the web site.
As a side note I have had a few people ask about the Foundation. The Denver & Rio Grande Railway Historical Foundation is a 501-C-3 not-for-profit Foundation, they operate and acquire equipment from product and financial supporters. All donations of money or equipment are tax-deductible. Contact the Foundation if you would like to help - 970-259-9498.
Thank-You,
Matt Cutter
P.S.- A special thanks to all involved on the rehab of the line and the equipment provided.
