I found a photo of 463 on page 116 with the same rod running from the brace up to the pilot. Could it be there to help protect the cylinder cock assembly while running through the snow? The brace from the pilot keeps it from being bent backwards when pressure is on the front side of the bracket. It cuts a channel in the snow that will clear the cylinder cocks? Just a thought.
