Narrow Gauge Neophyte

April 09, 2004 09:33PM
I'm a relative neophyte but have taken an intense interest in narrow gauge. The only line I've ridden on is the Sumpter Valley but hope for both lines in southern colorado this summer. I find it amazing, and hope it's not a joke, that there will be an attempt to recreate the Unitah/SV Mallets. That would be a cool project and I'd even through in a small donation along the way to help out. Incidentaally, I have lost the link but I did see an article abpout the end of the mallets in Guatamala. There was even a picture of one of the discarded boilers laying in the weeks near a rail yard after the loco had been stripped. If nobody else has seen the article, I'll see if I can locate it again.
