Howdy: Specific to the Alaska summer season status; Alaska Rail Road recently announced their Summer Passenger Train schedule will be implemented starting 1 July or approximately a 6 week delay. Yesterday, Carnival Cruises, owner of both Princess Cruises and Holland America and part owner of the WP&Y announced it was terminating Gulf of Alaska cruises for 12 ships, eliminating all Port of Whittier docking and greatly reducing Port of Seward docking. Princess also announced it was cancelling all Land Excursions (both Rail and Bus) and keeping their 5 lodges closed for the 2020 summer season. In addition, Holland America announced it was suspending all Denali Park and Yukon Land Excursions. Princess and Holland America further announced that they are planning to operate 4 Cruise ships later in the summer between Seattle and Vancouver into the Southeast Alaska Panhandle and cross-gulf but are continuing to assess as time goes forward. Lastly. our Governor line item vetoed approximately $15million or 30% of repair, maintenance and operating 2020 Budget funds for the Alaska Marine Highway System which unless the Legislature over-rides will mean little capacity will be found on the Ferry system. AMHS also announced recently they are suspending all dockings in Prince Rupert, Canada for the foreseeable future. Needless to say, it will continue to be interesting times in the 49th State for the next few months. Dougwood1954
