To me, the cylinders look the same. I'm curious as to what sort of "A-Dapter kit" could have been used. Is the cylinder block of a K27 (463 or 464) one piece, or is it two halves bolted together, that could have had a block installed in between? Or if Earl is correct, and that the cylinders would be indeed too wide for standard gauge, could some longer crank pins compensate?

I have to admit, with the actual gauge widening 20.5 inches, that the cylinder spacing from the narrow gauge engines would be too wide. Then again, I'm a farmer, not a steam locomotive machinist...

however, if indeed the cylinders were too wide for standard gauge, is it possible to widen things by making the the drive wheel centers wider, to accomodate the greater width? Those driver centers seem to look wider, sticking out beyond the tires further than what would be typical. Then again, perhaps it is an illusion, partly brought about by the small diameter of the wheels>

Anybody near 463 or 464 with a tape measure????
