Pushing through the brush, it was apparent that this was a short spur (about 200 feet) to a loading site:
Don De Vere's map in Thunder in the Mountains shows a long spur here and a wye. I saw no evidence of a wye and no evidence the spur was any longer than about 200 feet.
There was the upbiqitous wire rope and a part of a donkey boiler's grate:

Time to turn around and cycle back. I hadn't realized that the line was not level until this point. It is probably on a variable 1% grade. It starts out at 6200 feet at the Crows Foot and drops down to about 5900 feet where I turned around. Cycling back was much harder work than heading out!
On the way back I passed through this nice cut:
I got back to my truck, loaded my bike, then drove to the Crows Foot for lunch.
