All: I have a thinking cap question for all of you. A locomotive was going to be lettered using the spelled out "Denver & Rio Grande Western" on the tender including a "Royal Gorge" herald and the road number on the cab. The trouble here is there is no room for all of the lettering let alone the herald on the tender. Does anyone have a suggestion on what the D&RGW would have done? Revert to the pre-1924 scheme with a huge number on the tender and D&RGW on the cab? Use initials and a herald on the tender or just the initials and leave the herald off, with the road number on cab?? Another vexing item for me to stew over. Paul.
