You used to be able to walk the line. Not anymore. People that wouldn't follow the directions about not walking the bridge put an end to that. You can get shots of the bridge near the edge of the parking lot. Outside of that, there is no access outside of the town itself except on the photo special. There are no public roads--it's just wandering through the woods on a big loop. They will do runbys at the bridge and the holdup on the photo special. That said, the sun will be gone by the time the special starts. Both the trestle and the holdup have space to spread out--but at the same time, you aren't dealing with hardcore photographers, so crowd control can be a bit frustrating at times.
