NNG Sonny's truck and other questions

I have searched to no avail for a thread that had a link to a blog about Sonny's truck build (is that how you spell his name and do you all know who I am talking about)?

While searching I ended up going right back to the first posts for the hell of it, there was an interesting history of the Gomez family and store at Gato, it mentioned how a good part of Gato had been washed away with various floods, does anyone have a map of old Gato and how extensive the town was?

And finally, JBW posted this back in 2000, what did become of the standard gauge cars he mentioned, I can't recall seeing them anywhere on my couple of visits:-

We could certainly spread some ballast, but until the EBT cars are in service (at least a month, probably more), we're still trying to determine if and how to use the two converted standard gauge cars (the body bolsters are virtually riding on the sideframes).
