While watching a video on YouTube recently, I observed a conductor at a tourist railroad board moving equipment. Many railroads have outlawed this practice (while some still allow it and others have brought it back). What grabbed my attention was the fact that this person, simply put, did it wrong. As I watched more of the video, the employee (or volunteer), was in the process of protecting a shove. While doing so, the employee proceeded to turn his back on the move and have a conversation with a visitor. My question to the experts is: How does this impact the tourist railroad sector? Is there no training? Is the training just that poor? Are there foamers running the show instead of actual professionals?
