Re: #4 at Silverplume?

Re: jwebb - "Earlier today a photo showed up in the "Abandoned Rails" group on facebook about a locomotive in Silverplume in the display building. It's #4 and looks like maybe a 2-8-0. Photographer was Shae Din. He said he believed it was a 2-8-0 but unsure of heritage. I've tried to search for it here but didn't find anything. I'm sure someone on here knows exactly what it is and where it came from and probably how many rivets is has! Thanks!"

Here is the information I have:
1912 Baldwin 2-6-2 #4 is the latest acquisition of the Georgetown Loop RR to supplement their current operating steamer, ex-West Side Lumber Shay #9. The Baldwin arrived in Silver Plume on October 17, 2015. She originally ran on the Klondike Mines RY in the Yukon Territory, Canada but only for two years (1912-13), went to the White Pass & Yukon in Alaska in 1942 where she operated until the 1950s, then to the Oak Creek Central RY in 1955, then Peppermint & North Western RR in 1960, then Petticoat Junction RR in 1964, then the Gold Nugget Junction RR in 1969, then Wild’s Game Farm in 1984. Finally, after sitting unused exposed to the weather for 20 years, in 2005 the locomotive went to the Dry Gulch & Silver City Railroad at Dry Gulch USA, a Christian church camp for kids and theme park in Adair, Oklahoma. Dry Gulch started a restoration to return the locomotive to service but ended up putting her on display until sold to the Georgetown Loop. On her arrival in Silver Plume the Baldwin’s tender was “adorned” with a fake display of wood giving the impression the empty tender was filled with cord wood. Note too the 2-6-2’s trailing truck is missing, making it look at casual glance like a 2-6-0. While the locomotive is in very good condition, having being steamed up and run a short distance on the Dry Gulch, more work is needed before she returns to service, which might be next year or later. #4 is currently on display in the little museum building in the Loop's Silver Plume rail yard.

This brings the Loop’s steamer count to 3 along with ex-West Side Lumber CO Shay #9, and ex- Sundown & Southern #111 which at this point in time is in the final stages of being returned to service this summer. The 111 is a slightly larger Baldwin much like the Loop’s two original locomotives, #s 40 and 44. Built in 1926 (#40 and 44 were built in 1920 and ‘21), all for the International Railways of Central America (IRCA) and all three hauled trains of bananas, sugar, coffee and other items in Guatemala and El Salvador for the IRCA’s partner United Fruit CO (an American Corp., now Chiquita) between 1936 and 1967.
