Saturday, Southern Forest Heritage Museum volunteers David Hamilton and John Weiss raised the boom on McGiffert Log loader #1229. Abandoned at the museum since 1954, they have been restoring this 1919 machine now for 9 years. Outside of the boiler, they have done or will do a complete mechanical restoration which will allow the museum to demonstrate the machine on compressed air.
