New to the group - Question about John Maxwell's drawings.

Hoping I've found a good place to ask the question.

Several years back I made a purchase off ebay of various drawings. At least 30 are John Maxwell drawings. What I'd like to ask is, does anyone know what the copyright status of these drawing is?

The reason I ask is I've started scanning these in and would like to post them on-line where they could be of use to folks.

Some other drawings that were in the box I bought were a couple dozen D&RGW passenger car folio copies. These copies appear to be on drafting vellum. They are copies because you can see where the holes were on the originals.
