Are you thinking of ex Duluth & Northeastern 2-8-0 #14? It was at the Black Hills Central for a while, ended up in Dodge City at some point and was sold to the Fillmore & Western Railway in California in 1999. This locomotive is now operating on the F&W as their No. 14.
