Sad end for D&RGW 1423

Stopped by the Colorado Railroad Museum this afternoon and noticed that three D&RGW high side gondolas had been de trucked and turned in to parts storage platforms.
Among the cars is D&RGW 1423.According to research published on the RGS Technical Page website, D&RGW 1423 was the only high side gon to survive with its original, as built, cast stake pockets and several other features. The car was donated to the museum by co-founder Cornelius Hauck in 1971. Mr. Hauk most likely selected 1423 for preservation due to its unique features.
Anyway, on to the photos....
Other than the lack of trucks, 1423 does not look so bad from this side.
Sadly, the view from the other side dispels any notion that 1423's condition is temporary. Sad end for a historic and amazingly original car.
