A nice storm passed through the Valley of the Sun on Friday and cooled us down quite a bit so I decided to head out on a road trip this morning. The closest NG grade to me is the Magma AZ up near Superior and I have been exploring this grade off and on for a few years now. One of the shots that I wanted to try and reproduce is a scene at Hewitt, about milepost 19, where the railroad had a water tank.
The Then view is credited to the Collection of Jack Paar and would have been captured sometime between 1915 and 1923. The Now view is from today May 16, 2015. This is about as close as I can get due to all of the growth over the years. The period photo would have been shot further to the right and in the brush.
