Hi Stuart,
There are several books available on the various Catskill mountain lines.
These include:
- Rip Van Winkle Railroads by W. F. Helmer
- The Ulster & Delaware by Gerald M. Best
- Light Rail and Short Ties Through the Notch by Ham and Bucenec
In addition, a coach from the Catskill Mountain Railroad still operates on the Huckleberry Railroad in Flint, Michigan.
I visited the Catskill Mountain Railroad area in the mid-seventies and easily found the ROW of the Otis Elevating RR off Boggart Road in Palenville, NY. (Note - the published sources list it as "Bogart" Road, but the street sign has 2-g's.) The other n.g. grades were heavily overgrown at the time, but ng steel bridge #1 and the rock cut to the "Landing" were still very visible in Catskill, NY.
Best Regards,
Glenn
