Folks,
On Saturday, December 20th, 2014, the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum in Alna, ME held its annual "Victorian Christmas" event. The day-long party includes free train rides, visits with Santa for the kids, horse-drawn wagon rides, and lots of goodies and hot beverages to help everyone keep warm. The trains started running at 10:30AM and ran back and forth to Alna Center until just before 4PM. The day was capped off with a night-run for the museum crew, and die-hard fans like myself.
At the end of the day, it was my understanding that the trains had carried 1,297 official passengers (not counting the last run), which beats the 2012 record by nearly 100 riders. One of the noon-time runs carried just under 200 people! The 12-ton Locomotive #10 did yeoman service hauling heavy 5-car trains, without issues. A great time was had by all!
I've put together a Flickr album of photos that I took around the event. Click on the link for a taste of Christmas in New England on our Narrow Gauge.
