Hi All -
First, thanks to all who responded with congratulations and encouragement from the first thread on saving C&S Caboose 1008. Ted, Erik, Phil, Mike, bcp, Jeff - thanks for the info and pictures. Also, thanks to those that have PM'd with addtional helpful information and contacts. We look forward to gathing this together, keeping in touch, and posting our progress over what sure looks like a multi-year project.
Here are pictures of the move on Dec 28th. As you can see, the 1008 was not in a spot that allowed much photography at all, tightly squeezed between a building and a fence, with a large tree in front! What is not shown is the digging needed around the bottom of the body to free the ends and sides from years of mud build up. Yes - it was a mess!
Here are a couple we did receive from the "seller", showing the cupola and end number over the doorway. When we saw these two, we knew it had to be #1008. (The numerals "0" and "8" are faintly visible if you look hard enough.)
More in a second post showing 1008 at its new home, and current condition.
