Operating the trains out of Rockwood is hard on the crews and makes for long days. But one of the benefits to me as a photographer is being able to photograph the switching operations later in the day with dramatic lighting.
Notice how the tight wye curve shows the over hang on a K-36.
The north leg of the wye is slight upgrade and when pushing two of the heavy steel cars, the engineer used the sander.
